Galleries of Dupont Circle Open House:
January 4th through December 5th, 2008
Description:Dupont Circle is home to many art galleries, and once a month several of them cooperatively hold an open house. Showing everything from contemporary regional art to African and Chinese antiquities, the galleries present an amazing variety of art – there's something for everyone. Some galleries specialize in vintage photographs, American folk art, and Inuit art, as well. Most of the galleries are located off Connecticut Avenue NW and R Street NW.

National Cherry Blossom Festival:
Tidal Basin • Washington, DC
March 29th through April 13th, 2008
Description: The festival takes place in various parks around the city to celebrate the blooming of the numerous cherry trees that line the streets. The original cherry trees were a gift from Japan in 1912, and the most famous are those encircling the Tidal Basin near the Jefferson Memorial. The blooming of the trees is truly a sight to behold, washing the city's landscape with pink and white. They generally bloom profusely around the end of March and early April, although the dates of the festival may not coincide with peak bloom. The parade takes place on Constitution Avenue between 7th and 17th Sts NW.

Description:On the first Saturday of October, thousands of hungry folks come forth to enjoy this festival of food and music. Booths manned by about 50 local restaurants present samples of their finest and most popular dishes, from appetizers to desserts. In the midst of it all, street performers entertain the crowds, and a host of bands bring rock, jazz, and other music to the fun-loving attendees. A terrific event for children and adults alike. Takes place at the "Woodmont Triangle, bordered by Norfolk, St. Elmo, Cordell, Del Ray and Auburn Avenues.
